This year Target Pistol Australia has put together an online competition to allow for local clubs to compete against each other, all across Australia.

It’s a shorter version of 10m air and 25mp which is live-streamed on YouTube. Two teams go head-to-head in these competitions. Teams are ‘handicapped’ by being given 14 points to spend on shooters. Shooters have different values depending on their grade: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2. Shooters can change throughout the tournament so long as the overall handicapped is not exceeded.

This year Toowoomba has put forward a team and you can watch them live (or whenever you can as the videos are saved on YouTube) and watch all of the other team’s competitions here.

TPC will be competing live 10 May at 1:30pm. Cheer on your club!

It was a busy day at the range today with the concrete pump truck on site to complete the core filling of the new wall on the left side of the new range and a full house on Range 1 for the mid-week ISSF match.

We’re also seeing great numbers of Action Shooters practicing and getting ready for a great year of competitions ahead!

A good reminder that there are plenty of relaxed, fun pistol competitions on around Qld and other states that members should consider attending.  You don’t need to worry about whether you’re “good enough” because it’s no different to having a shot at our club.  Except you can expect camping (usually free), catering and time to sit around and chat with like minded folks!

For a serious road trip, if you can afford the fuel, the central/western clubs put their Opens in succession so you could shoot at Rockhampton on 27/28 June, Emerald 4/5 July, Blackall 11/12 July and Mount Isa 18/19 July!  If that sounds like too much time on the road there are plenty of closer competitions and you can see the full PSQ calendar here.

This Saturday is our last shoot for 2025! We will be closed from December 21 to January 2 inclusive. We have big plans and major works over this period. Please contact John B if you want to help out!

Thanks to the members who helped make the 2025 ISSF Open a resounding success. Around 45 competitors competing across 120 individual match entries.

Weather proved favourable for a good weekend of competition and we were only short of range staff on a couple of details which was soon rectified ensuring a professional competition shoot where competitors cold concentrate on their performance in each match. We had more club helpers than any event in the last 10 years.

Well done and congratulations to the 20 club members who picked up grade medals and regional championship medals. This included two members competing for the first time – while still working towards their pistol licences.

A big focus of the club next year will be the Action Nationals and Worlds in October but we should still manage an ISSF Open in the first half of the year.

Target Pistol Australia in conjunction with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), Pistol Shooting Queensland (PSQ) and Toowoomba Pistol Club is proud to announce the first CMP Action Pistol World Championships will be held in 2026!

The event will be hosted at the Toowoomba Pistol Club, Oct. 26 through Oct. 31, 2026.

The CMP Action Pistol World Championships will welcome the world’s best action pistol competitors to the Darling Downs region. Athletes from across the globe will compete in a test of precision, speed and accuracy across the sport’s most demanding courses of fire.

Our modified ISSF Open program ran well with all matches conducted last Friday and Saturday. Many thanks to those club members who helped prepare the range, equipment and provided food, range duties and other help during the competition.

Congratulations to around ten club members who participated in the competition, several for the first time, and several also achieving grade break scores.

Having a go at our home Open is really no different to a weekend club shoot, your score isn’t as important as having a go. And it’s a rare chance to shoot and have someone else do the scoring and patching! But you do have to take your turn on range duties in other matches.  

Special mention to new junior member (PSQ membership approved just days before the competition) Sinead for breaking grade in Junior Women’s Air in her first competition. And special mention also to Sinead’s grandfather Ian for investing the time and effort to bring a new junior into our sport. That’s three juniors now competing at our club
